Console table, also referred to as sofa table: here are ways to use them
Console tables are essentially tabletops. Console tables are usually supported against the wall. They are named so because of their Latin origin - ‘consolidare’ meaning ‘to strengthen’. Console tables might be passed off as fancy, decorative pieces of furniture, but they are much more than just that.
Console tables are built to hold things. You’d be surprised with the holding capacity of some console tables out there in the market today. They are an essential value-add to home furniture. Console tables are incredibly functional and are built to last. They are multi-functional pieces of furniture that can be placed in various spaces in the house. Let’s have a look at some of those spaces.
First impressions last! Your entryway is the first thing anyone visiting you would lay eyes on. It is hence obvious that your entryway needs to have a warm, cozy, and welcoming feel. You can easily place a console table in the entryway of your home. The console table should be chosen carefully and should be majestic, while not losing out on utility. Do ensure that you make optimum use of the space. The most common thing to add is to have a bowl for keeping keys on the entryway console table. An additional tip would be decorating a console table such that it always radiates positive energy. A glass console table would be a great idea. A lamp on a small console table could help, as could a small mirror (elegant, not too flashy) on the wall above it.
Your living room is a space for everyone to sit and gather around. It deserves the best decoration possible, to entice the visitors and give the room a warm vibe as well. You can always class up your living room by putting in a classy and elegant console table in your living room. You can accentuate the shades of the console table with the colour scheme of your living room. If your living room has pastel shades, choose a table with subtle overtones. You can always make a wood console table function as a coffee table and place chairs around it as well. This would make it look like a sofa table. Some framed art near the living room console table could also mean wonders. You can also place the console table against the wall, facing the sofa set. Definitely do not try to crowd your living room with furniture. If you already have enough, do not add a console table. Also, do not overcrowd your console table with furniture around it either. You can always decorate the console table with a little lamp or a vase with fresh flowers. Stash it up with magazines or reading literature and you’re golden!
The dining table is the one place where you’d want all things to be ready to avoid multiple trips to the kitchen. But what if your stuff would already be there? Instead of having your meals interrupted, and walking back to the kitchen, you can bring parts of your kitchen to the dining room. In this case, a console table with drawers or cabinets would be just the thing you’re looking for. A console table with storage which has large compartments would suit your needs if you have a large dining table and a large family.
You can use the console table with storage for a variety of things - from silverware and cutlery and crockery to napkins and tissues and hand towels and other items that you may need as accompaniments from the kitchen.
You can place this utilitarian console table of yours near the dining room entrance or even next to the dining table. If it has wheels and can be rolled around or passed around, that’d be even better. You can also adorn an antique console table with a vase or other items like a centerpiece.
Modern console tables would be great alternatives for dressers in the bedroom. If you have a dresser that occupies a large space, you can always swap it out for a mirrored console table. The same amount of makeup or other grooming items can fit in a big enough modern console table while occupying lesser space. Smart, isn’t it? You can always make the console table your personal vanity and can stash a bunch of items in and on it. This could include your jewelry, make-up, slings, perfumes, watches, bracelets, and even your handkerchiefs. If you make a trip to IKEA, you can also add those little containers which will categorize your accessories and place them in a neat way on the table. This vanity console table must be placed next to your bed, should have a mirror as a companion, and should have good lighting. Also, as it is a very personal and subjective choice, there is no right way of decorating a console table. Designer console tables are available and can be crafted into shapes and forms of your choosing. You can put up a string of polaroids, fancy paraphernalia, some souvenirs from a trip, or your own artwork to glam this spot up!
This one is a variant where you should place a console table near a power outlet. This console table would be your stashing space - to avoid being frustrated from going on a scavenger hunt to find things that you need for a certain activity. Placing a console table (or maybe even a designer console table)at strategic locations and placing items that you need and saving yourself from distractions thereby saving precious time would be a good idea. You can always get a console table that is compact or one with multiple drawers, depending upon your use case. You can also use it as a spot to place your laptop and work off of for a short while. You can also use the cabinets and drawers to store stationery or writing pads. You can adorn this one with a lamp (maybe a reading lamp) and probably a comfortable chair to go with it.
