Pastel pink colour for the modular kitchen interiors with cream coloured kitchen cabinets - Beautiful Homes

Whatever your preferred décor style, one of the most important factors of the kitchen is its functionality and that does to an extent determine the design decisions you make. Since kitchen renovations are time consuming, you look to design elements that have an ageless appeal; and as we all know, timeless doesn’t necessarily mean neutral.

The kitchen is a great place to add some colour and pastel shades might just turn out to be just what you’re looking for. Pastel shades and colour combinations uplift the kitchen décor without being overpowering. They pair perfectly with a multitude of materials and patterns and impart a timeless aesthetic. They also work well with any décor style including extremely popular modular kitchen design.  If you are looking to add some colour to your kitchens, it’s best to consult a well trusted team of interior design. To make this process easy, Asian Paints created an offering called Beautiful Homes Service that helps custom make your home your way.

Read on for some of our favourite pastel kitchen colours and how versatile they can be.

Dusky Blue Delight

We’re starting with an all-time favourite kitchen colour – dusky blue. This calming shade is perfect for those who want to add a little personality but shy away from too much colour. This particular shade has the ability to work well with a cool-toned material palette of marble and metal as well as materials that add a layer of warmth like wood finishes. It would work well with most kitchen décor styles but is especially wonderful in a contemporary kitchen.

Style Tip: Keep the ceiling and floors white to ensure the kitchen isn’t overpowering. A white marble backsplash would add just the right touch of visual interest. For a pop of contrast, consider adding black door knob and drawer pulls or even pendant lights.

Cheery White And Yellow

Yellow is a sure fire way to add some cheer to your kitchen décor, especially those that do not get a lot of natural light. In this image, a pocket of sunny yellow does wonders for this predominantly white kitchen. Warm wood counters and wood finish flooring paired with bamboo or cane elements like a pendant lamp work well with this combination. We also like how the slatted wood panels add visual interest to what would have otherwise been flat white walls.

Style Tip: If you’re unsure about this colour, choose one element like the bottom cabinets or the backsplash to feature it and let the rest be a neutral shade or consider a softer shade of yellow.

Pale Blue With Stone

For those whose love the texture and rusticity of stone walls, this kitchen décor is a revelation. Pale blue cabinets, contemporary design, sleek appliances, wood details and understated stripes all point to a modern kitchen yet a stone wall adds that classic, almost farmhouse-style element.

Style Tip: If you want to up the farmhouse style kitchen décor, bring in elements like shaker cabinets, apron sinks, butcher block countertops and natural materials like linen curtains to work with the pale blue and stone combination.

Mint Green Magic

A fairly underrated kitchen colour, mint green is a great way to uplift a kitchen. Whether you go in for a matte or glossy finish, this shade works really well with light countertops in materials like engineered quartz. In this kitchen, the subtle pattern of the white backsplash tiles paired with a block of two-toned black cabinets, adds layers of interest.

Style Tip: Add some warmth to the colour palette with wood details and metallic highlights.

Classic Spa Blue And Wood

You can never go wrong with the quintessential timeless combination of spa blue and wood. This kitchen colour is both calming and invigorating, turning this space into a place the whole family will want to spend time in. We like how the shade is used in a subway tile pattern on an extended backsplash with the cabinets and chimney area featuring the same colour. By keeping the rest of the kitchen white, the soothing shade of blue takes centre stage.
Modern kitchen design incorporates the use of sleek and minimalistic elements, which can complement the timeless combination of spa blue and wood, creating a contemporary yet cozy atmosphere in the heart of your home.

Style Tip: Instead of painting them white, we love how the rafters on the ceiling have been given a natural wood finish to tie it in with the kitchen island and flooring.

Vintage Blush

If you’re looking to add a touch of vintage charm to your kitchen décor, try blushing pink paired with creamy white. Bring in a light wood finish on the floors, island or countertops to add warmth. Take your time choosing the right shade of pink as a deeper shade could overpower the kitchen.

Style Tip: For a modern feel pair splashes of blush pink with deeper colours like matte black or deep charcoal and materials like marble, terrazzo or polished concrete.

Soothing Grey And Yellow

Take a cue from this small modular kitchen on how to use pale yellow and soft grey as your main kitchen colours. The patterned backsplash and subtle texture on the lower cabinets adds a unique character to the colour palette. Marble countertops and flooring pairs really well with this combination.

Style Tip: Break the yellow and grey with sections of white.

Textured Concrete With Bright Blue

Concrete finish walls impart a sophisticated, earthy vibe to your interiors, so why not use it in your kitchens. In this kitchen, they have softened the rusticity of concrete by adding a bright blue element complemented by a modern mix of bar seating. The locker-style storage and minimal metal shelving units add a touch of industrial chic. If you're looking to incorporate more unique Interior Design ideas into your kitchen, you could experiment with different finishes for your concrete walls, such as stenciling, textured finishes, or even adding a mural or two.

Style Tip: Concrete pairs very well with the warmth of wood. Add some greenery to elevate the look.
