Simple DIY idea to glam up your clay pots at home
Turn any simple clay pot into an expensive looking version with this quick and easy method
It is unusual for most people to picture clay pots anywhere other than in a garden, as a planter. Mostly because they look simple and basic. Which is why these eco-friendly, affordable, and easily the more responsible product choice gets sidelined when it comes to having a glamourous looking setup. A few brushes, some glue, and the magic ingredient, a gold leaf, will completely transform any clay pot. These can jazz up any garden, or be used as a décor element anywhere in the house.
Our guest DIY stylist, Andrew Fernandes, who also happens to be an established filmmaker and animator, shows us how to quickly add a touch of gold to our common terracotta pots.
Here’s how you do it:
- Start by adding patches of glue on your pots. Feel free to either make these in a random or specific design.
- Next, gently put the gold leaf on the glue patches.
- Then use a flat dry brush to further press them evenly, strengthening the bond.
- Leave them to dry and then brush off the excess bits with a dry brush.
