The exteriors of Leeu House in Cape Town - Beautiful Homes

Warm neutral tones and European sensibilities come together in this South African retreat

Just under an hour’s drive away from Cape Town is the postcard-esque village of Franschhoek - home to Leeu House; An exclusive boutique hotel that whisks you away in mind, body and spirit. Housed within a classic Cape Dutch-style gabled structure, Leeu House is a contemporary take on the land’s historically French influences.

On his very first visit to South Africa’s vineyards of the Western Cape, Indian billionaire Analjit Singh of Max India fell in love with the land. Apart from Leeu House, he now owns several properties including an estate, a few restaurants, vineyards and even a microbrewery.

Originally an ordinary guesthouse, it’s now a 12-bedroom property that effortlessly embraces classic contemporary furniture drenched in calm neutrals and plenty of textures. The bedroom interiors echo tranquility in its aesthetics. It’s refined yet relaxed. Shades of taupe, beige and cream come together in stunning rooms, styled individually with a European touch. Think linen curtains, sisal carpeting, upholstered headboards and lush bedding.

Adding to the grandeur of the hotel are original artworks and sculptures from around the world. The luxury bathrooms have marble floors with underfloor heating, double vanity tops, and freestanding baths among other amenities. The decor helps give the space a sense of belonging and peace.
