Set amidst the rugged beauty of the Aravallis, this boutique retreat blends royal charm with rural simplicity. Sandstone courtyards, frescoed walls, ancestral artefacts, and the quiet hum of village life can be experienced beyond its gates. At Rawla Bisalpur, Diwali unfolds in quiet reverence and collective joy. The day after Diwali, villagers visit the Rawla to exchange Rama-Shama greetings with the royal family, a tradition steeped in gratitude and connection. Guests become part of this living heritage, witnessing temple rituals, folk music, and age-old customs that illuminate the spirit of community. Evenings glow with oil lamps and devotional songs, while meals crafted from family recipes and seasonal produce are shared like stories.

Sitara Himalaya

Founded by Anita Lal of Good Earth, Sitara Himalaya is a ten-room retreat where Vedic wisdom meets contemporary design. Perched on a sacred Himalayan hill once associated with sage Ved Vyas, the retreat invites guests to reconnect with nature through guided meditation, yogic rituals, cedar-scented plunge pools, and meals rooted in Himalayan flavours and foraged produce. Sitara celebrates Diwali as a festival of warmth and togetherness. Marigold garlands and twinkling diyas adorn the stone pathways, while mountain air carries the scent of incense and pine. Guests join in evening rituals, from the Lakshmi pooja to firecrackers lighting up the starlit sky, before gathering for a traditional gala dinner featuring local flavours and family-style hospitality.

House of Rohet, Mihir Garh and Rohet Garh, Rajasthan

Under the umbrella of the House of Rohet, these two sister properties represent the very soul of Rajasthani hospitality and design. Rohet Garh, a 17th-century ancestral home on the banks of a serene lake, is a heritage haven where courtyards, frescoes, and lush gardens whisper stories of nobility and grace. Mihir Garh, often described as “the fort of the sun”, rises from the Thar desert like a sandcastle brought to life with hand-plastered walls, carved fireplaces, and suites that overlook endless dunes.

For Diwali, both Mihir Garh and Rohet Garh host a gala dinner which begins with the ceremonial lighting of diyas as courtyards shimmer in gold. Guests participate in rituals before the evening gives way to fireworks and live folk performances. Dinner is hosted under the open desert sky—a feast inspired by royal kitchens and crafted from local produce. For in-house guests, this is a signature celebration—an immersion into the grandeur, warmth, and soul of Rajasthan’s festive spirit.
