The interiors of The Garden Room - Beautiful Homes

The Garden Room merges natural elements within a concrete shell for the best of both worlds

It’s like dining in the conservatory of a forgotten country house that has maintained its former glory. The Garden Room at Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings was designed to give the impression that nature had crept in, making its home in one of the state rooms replete with wood and cane garden furniture, curlicue wrought iron benches in brilliant hues and leaf-print upholstered armchairs.

The design of the all-day brasserie and bar by B&H’s in-house creative team in collaboration with architects Box 9 and Red Deer, is airy and bright. This calming space is made to look like a greenhouse in an abandoned manor with just a touch of pared back Victorian style. Nature has made a mark wherever you look – creepers tumble from multiple hanging baskets, ‘vertical’ gardens and wall planters, while potted plants and shrubs line the mantle of the fireplace, corners of the room and open wrought iron shelves that section off the open-plan layout.

The interior of the Garden Room is filled with splashes of yellow, cerulean blue, pink and tropical green with the dominant white hue giving the space a minimal and casual look. The deep green, tufted velvet, corner banquet sofa, simple cornicing on the fireplace and a vintage, bamboo blade ceiling fan are the only theatrical touches. All of this is empshasised by the white French doors, whitewashed floor-boards and tables – white marble with black, wrought iron legs.

In the outdoor area, frosted glass panes in a metal framework form the ceiling that allows light to stream in through while giving the space a sense of privacy. The white painted brick walls form the perfect canvas for the exposed pipes while wrought iron chairs are finished with a distressed paint look. A multitude of hanging and potted plants fill the space illuminated by strings of simple bulbs.
