50 hand-tufted rugs and woven dhurries showcase the vibrant colours and trends for the year
Over the years, Asian Paints has constantly worked towards offering home décor solutions for the design community and homeowners in the simplest way possible. While it launched the AP Homes store as a one-stop shop for every home décor requirement, it also innovated a range of products for every room in the house. This year, in collaboration with Jaipur Rugs, Asian Paints is also introducing a range of 50 hand-tufted rugs and woven dhurries in its line of products.
From simple, minimal classic patterns to bolder, vibrant contemporary designs, Asian Paints’ range of floor coverings are available in light pastel hues, soothing neutrals and bold, statement shades. With a mix of colour-blocking, as well as geometric and abstract patterns, the range offers rugs in a variety of sizes to pair with every home’s style. From rustic to minimal and heritage to contemporary, there’s a carpet for everyone.
As a company deeply rooted in Indian handicrafts, Jaipur Rugs takes pride in its mission to benefit everyone in the process of making and selling its rugs. Founded in 1978, it transformed the carpet industry by creating an entirely new business model of working directly with artisans and empowering them and their local communities with a sustainable form of livelihood. This commitment to a thoughtful business model, and move to sustainability, led Asian Paints to collaborate with the brand.
For forecasted four trends that are a culmination of behavioural patterns. They address socio-cultural topics ranging from mental health, digital currency and work choices to breaking gender barriers in fashion and décor. To echo these trends, there’s a rug for each colour palette, as well as the Colour of the Year.
A hand-woven rug called ‘Bijoue’ showcases the Colour of the Year with bright vibrant tones of purple. This lively hue cascades across the single-toned carpet with a subtle ombre variation.
This hand-tufted carpet called ‘Zipper’ encompasses the shades of this trend that highlight the collective awareness of mental health in our society. The honey threads against the ashy yarns in this rug beautifully echo each shade in this trend’s perfectly-imperfect colour palette.
Using a rich blend of wool and viscose, the ‘Nebula’ handwoven rug showcases a sea of inky blues and misty greens within its weaves. The curves in its pattern create the illusion of movement, highlighting this trend’s exploration of pushing the boundaries of creativity.
‘Risham’, a bright mustard-toned rug made from viscose, pays homage to the vibrant shades of a sunflower. With its modern colour and happy hue that celebrates this trend’s spirit of self motivation and disruptive flexibility, this rug stands out as an eye-catching accent piece.
The palette in this trend was inspired by the art of Frida Kahlo, and the landscape and sceneries in Mexico. Its colours are meant to spark a sense of adventure with bold shades that echo a sense of liberated confidence. The wild geometric patterns and patch work in bright red and dark taupe in the ‘Frida’ rug are meant to immediately draw attention in any room. The carpet is hand-tufted in a rich blend of wool and viscose.
