Renowned designer Isla Maria Van Damm designed a minimalist, spacious cocoon with the best of Asian Paints’ products and services
Picture a home that defines luxury for you. What do you see? A space that is full of expensive products or one that gives you the best comfort? If it is the latter then read on. Asian Paints has a wide range of products offering the perfect match of quality, design and comfort. Recently, the company joined hands with designer and hotelier Isla Maria Van Damme, fondly referred to as 'Loulou', to create a space that helps visualise the products in a home-like setting.
Homes must offer solace. It is a place where one should be at peace. The absence of clutter and availability of space lets both objects and people inhabiting the home breathe. With this exact thought, Loulou demarcated the areas in the home with a significant amount of space instead of walls. The living room, the dining space, the work space and the kitchen, all coexist in one singular open-plan layout. This arrangement gives a visual illusion of a bigger, more free flowing area. The space resonates with the idea of a high-end experience that makes you feel all kinds of nice. Here, Loulou has expressed subtle eclectic decor aesthetics with a generous garnish of drama.
Available at the House of Asian Paints, a wide range of fabrics, furniture, lighting, rugs, kitchen, bathroom products and tiles have been used to create what we call a signature Beautiful Home.
The furniture in the space creates a minimalistic base. The choice of pieces here are a mix of classic and contemporary design, making the home feel comfortable and not too thematic. It also allows the homemaker to mould the space to their liking over time, adding layers or replacing details as they like.
Made in collaboration with fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the fabrics used in the space are statement pieces themselves. The patterns, colours and the feel of the surface boasts of opulence. These are used as cushion covers, upholstery, window furnishing and even as a piece of art! In the bedroom, the fabric travels to the walls and continues on to the headboard of the bed, elevating the entire look of the space. The deep velvet blue fabric creates an old-school charm to the entire room.
The lights add a layer of drama to the setting. With Asian paints’ latest collaboration with well-known illumination company, White Teak, the range of lights is vast. From sculptural floor lamps to decorative table lamps, the collection has it all. Here, Loulou used them as a major part of decor. The table lamps sit well with the accessories on the console, while a floor lamp stands as a statement piece in the seating area.
The rugs help demarcate the areas. The choice of colours and patterns, and its synergy with the pieces of furniture helps complete the look of the space. Jaipur Rugs and Asian Paints have come together to create exquisitely designed carpets which have been used generously in this setting. Handcrafted by artisans, these pieces are a work of art and unique to each craftsman.
Asian Paints also owns a kitchen brand called Sleek which has been creating modular kitchen setups for over 25 years. They customise the entire framework and make your dream kitchen come alive. The colours, the finishes, and the fixtures are all personalised as per the customer’s choice and the decor of the home. In this home set-up, the modular kitchen mimics colours, materials and the overall decor language of the flat. So while it looks modern and practical, it also fits in well with the aesthetics of the space.
Bathsense is another brand under the Asian Paints’ umbrella. High quality fittings and accessories are customised to match every consumer comfort and preference. In this mock home, even though the bathroom covers a small area, the glass shower and marble sink bring in a sense of lavishness. Since these reflective surfaces are paired with refreshing mint-shaded walls and accessories, the space looks bigger and visually lighter as well.
