Take a peek into this home designed by architect Sumati Aggarwal from Studio Arcs along with the team of Asian Paints
On the outskirts of Delhi, this beautiful 4300 sq. ft. home, designed by Sumati Aggarwal of Studio Arcs, strikes the perfect balance between functionality and luxury. It is a 4BHK apartment in the prestigious DLF Camellias, designed for a family that wanted a modern yet deeply personal space. From the outset, the client’s brief was clear: the home needed to be contemporary and spacious, with custom touches that reflect the lifestyle of its residents.
Sumati designed a layout that seamlessly flows from one space to the next. To complement the open feel, she used a neutral palette for the background with pops of colour here and there for a warm and interesting look. The wallpapers and fabrics by Asian Paints played a crucial role in bringing this balance. There is also a lounge area in the living room with a personalised bar for relaxation and entertainment. Additionally, she focused on the clever integration of built-in storage.
“What made this collaboration special was the mutual trust—it allowed us to translate their brief into a home that feels both distinctive and lived-in, all within the demanding three-month execution window,” says Sumati. Edited excerpts from an interview:
Sumati Aggarwal: Given the exclusivity of the location, we aimed to design a home that balances sophistication with comfort and complements the client’s lifestyle. We focused on clean lines, bespoke finishes, and a fluid spatial layout that invites natural light and ease of movement. A curated palette of rich materials and calming tones helped us bring in a sense of understated elegance. The wallpapers, fabrics, and internal painting colours by Asian Paints helped reflect our belief in restraint as a form of sophistication
SA: At the time of designing the space, the client’s daughter was just two years old, so our focus was on creating a room that felt nurturing, playful, and safe. We created a space where she could grow, explore, and feel completely at ease.
We worked with a soft, neutral base palette and introduced gentle textures and muted accents to keep the mood light and calming. Storage was thoughtfully integrated to encourage tidiness without overwhelming the space. Also, all furniture was chosen with the child’s safety and comfort in mind. The goal was to create a room that could evolve with her needs.
SA: We are so glad you noticed, it is one of our favourite corners too! The bar and lounge area was designed to be the heart of the home’s social energy. We wanted it to feel bold, immersive, and effortlessly chic—a space that instantly sets the mood.
We played with luxurious materials to create a moody yet inviting vibe, think deep-toned wood, fluted textures, warm stone, and brushed metal. Ambient lighting was key here: soft glows, backlit shelving, and layered accents bring the entire space alive after dark.
The bar itself was treated almost like a piece of art—sculptural, sleek, and functional, while the lounge seating was arranged for free-flowing conversations, music, and movement.
SA: Lighting was instrumental in shaping the mood and identity of this home. From the outset, we viewed it not just as a functional element, but as an architectural and emotional layer—one that brings warmth, dimension, and rhythm to the space.
We created a selection of unique fixtures, primarily from White Teak, whose pieces offered the perfect balance of contemporary elegance and sculptural presence. Rather than relying solely on overhead lighting, we worked with a layered lighting strategy—combining ambient, task, and accent lighting to create depth and drama.
Ultimately, the lighting allowed us to soften edges, highlight craftsmanship, and elevate the overall sensory experience of the space.
SA: We achieved this by embracing a fluid spatial flow. Visual barriers were minimised so that each zone could seamlessly transition into the next one without feeling disconnected. Proportions were carefully calibrated, and we used low-profile furniture, tonal continuity, and reflective surfaces to enhance light and openness.
Storage was seamlessly integrated to maintain a clean visual language, while carefully curated textures and materials helped add depth without density.
SA - Working with the Asian Paints team was a great experience. They understood our vision, executed with precision, and were incredibly responsive throughout. Their professionalism made the fast-paced timeline feel effortless.
SA: For a similar aesthetic, focus on timeless materials, a muted palette, and layered textures. Let each space breathe—avoid visual clutter and invest in pieces that are both beautiful and functional.
Good lighting is transformative—use it to create mood, not just illumination. And, most importantly, let the design reflect the way you truly live; that is where luxury really begins.
