You cannot miss this list of stores making unique mithai and sweets for the festive season
The festive season is upon us which means one thing: it’s time to indulge your sweet tooth and share the love with friends and family. Whether you’re looking for something sinful and artisanal or a treat that’s wholesome and natural, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of dessert makers crafting sweets that tick all the boxes, from fusion mithai to specialty chocolate.
• USP: Desi mithai in retro-inspired, design-forward packaging
• The Menu: The founders of Pistabarfi took over their grandfather’s sweet shop during the pandemic and revamped it into a cloud kitchen to save it from shutting down. Today, they make the same sweets using their grandfather’s authentic recipes. Their design and packaging are what make them stand out, with Gond artwork, old-school glass jars, and mithai wrapped in muslin cloth.
• Must-try: Try the Mithai Bar (kaju katli that’s shaped like a chocolate bar for on-the-go indulgence) or the Mysore Pak tin: golden, unctuous Mysore pak that’s packaged in a sleek, easy-open can.
Shop: Pan-India delivery available
• USP: Indian craft chocolate with signature infusions
• The Menu: Manam has changed the game for artisanal chocolate in India, with a keen focus on cacao fermentation and unique infusions to craft award-winning confections. They have bars that range from white chocolate to 100% dark, catering to every palate. Their bonbon and palette selections come in festive flavours like pumpkin spice latte and vanilla spice along with unique pairings like their coconut-curry leaf white chocolate and lavender Early Grey dark chocolate.
• Must-try: To experience Manam's chocolate at its best, opt for the chocolate bars or “tablets.” Their Tablet Library gift box contains a selection of 10 bars, including milk, dark, white and “inclusion tablets,” with nuts and rice crispies.
Shop: Pan-India delivery available
• USP: Reimagined mithai and namkeen
• The Menu: Bombay Sweet shop is run by Hunger Inc, the good folks behind culinary hotspots The Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, and Veronica's. They have a vast menu of sweets, namkeens, and chocolate, all inspired by childhood favourites and infused with a touch of whimsy and unique flavours. Choose from saffron and dark chocolate kaju katli or the spicy-salty-sweet Chilli Crisp Cookies that marry chilli oil and chilli flakes with a buttery cookie base.
• Must-try: Bombay Sweet Shop’s hybrid candy bar (aptly named the Indie Bar) is a standout and combines 54% dark chocolate and mithai for a melt-in-your mouth creation that tastes like a combination of Twix, Bounty, and flaky soan papdi, in the best way.

• USP: Traditional mithai using heirloom recipes, served in bite-sized form and keepsake packaging
• The Menu: Shrikar and Girija, the duo behind Hatti & Giraffe, make mithai and namkeen with a focus on quality ingredient sourcing and sustainability. They take heirloom recipes and add a little twist, by either “healthy-fying” the original or throwing in a unique flavour. You’ll find refined sugar-free Anti-Dessert Laddoos, snack-sized Puran Poli Lites, and adorable Karanji Bon Bons and Orange Nankhatai. Oh, and all their products come in elegant reusable tins, perfect for gifting.
• Must-try: The ginger-infused Konkani Coconut Wadi and cashew-rich Crackling Besan Barfi, both based on recipes passed down from the founders’ grandmothers.
