The hues of this charming Mexican hotel might just inspire you to get your walls repainted
A look at the bright hued exteriors of Rosas & Xocolate, a boutique hotel in the Mexican city of Merida, might just convince you that your home walls need a fresh coat of paint. Pink and bright ochre present themselves on the façade of this beautifully restored building. The colour palette in the interiors of the suites though are far more restrained, though.
Whether it’s the arched passage ways, the use of traditional Mexican tiles in the interiors or simply the choice of bright pink and ochre for the exterior walls, the idea of Mexico rings in loud and clear when you walk into this carefully curated boutique hotel.
The hotel structure was an old building that had to be restored by architect Salvador Reyes Rios and designer Josefina Larrain as part of the design process. Mexican floor tiles and stucco walls greet guests in their suite, while traditional Portuguese four poster beds complete the look.
